Twitter announced today that as of February 20th, tweets with links will allow users two whole characters less. Not a whole lot I hear you say. Working via twitter for a living, I constantly battle with cramming info into tweets, including links, in under 140 characters. The t.co url that Twitter uses to shorten web addresses is lengthening from 20 to 22 reserved characters. Gee Willy!
Will it end up being a big deal? Probably Not. Will it make it harder to create tweets? Most likely. Why are they doing this? Who knows. Is it 5pm yet?
Here’s how it was announced.
