“Lies, damned lies and statistics” – Five thoughts on Liverpool’s defense in 2011/12

By Bill Farnham

Just as the 2011/12 season was one of disappointment, ultimately, for Liverpool, so to was it for the defense in particular, which despite sparkling during the first half of the campaign, seemed to lose its way in the second half of the season. Personally, I think Liverpool should have given King Kenny another season — he saved us last year and while some of his signings have yet to repay him for the amount of money he spent to get them, I believe in time he would have gotten it right and restored Liverpool back to the top, where we belong. Dalglish Out After Tumultuous Season

The willing savior plays scapegoat and we should all be thankful.

By Sam Mathius

Stark numbers, disheartening statistics, and anemic attacking form marked Liverpool’s season. The end of the season was a welcome one, even given the capture of the Carling Cup. Perhaps no one was more relieved to see the campaign end than Kenny Dalglish himself. Continue reading “Dalglish Out After Tumultuous Season”
