Is a top four finish a realistic ambition for Liverpool in 2012-13?

By Bill Farnham

There are many questions surrounding LFC this offseason, but perhaps the most important is whether or not a top four finish is even a realistic goal for the club in the 2012-13 season. On the face of it, Liverpool would have needed 18 additional points to have finished the 2011-12 season tied with Arsenal, leaving Spurs in fifth place with 69. Unfortunately there is no shortage of matches one can point to where Liverpool “dropped” points last season, the question remains whether or not Liverpool can do better next season than four out of the seven teams that finished ahead of them in 2011-2012. Dalglish Out After Tumultuous Season

The willing savior plays scapegoat and we should all be thankful.

By Sam Mathius

Stark numbers, disheartening statistics, and anemic attacking form marked Liverpool’s season. The end of the season was a welcome one, even given the capture of the Carling Cup. Kenny’s Verbal Spark: Eight Games To Define Liverpool’s Season

By Tim Treacy

Liverpool take on Chelsea in the Carling Cup today and both teams, it is believed, will field weakened sides. Liverpool are coming off the back of their best performance of the season, and although Liverpool deserved all three points against Manchester City this past Sunday, confidence will be sky high for the Redmen going into this tie with Chelsea.

Steven Gerrard is key to kick-starting Andy Carroll’s Liverpool career

By Tim Treacy

Let’s face it, most Liverpool fans were expecting more from Andy Carroll this season. After scoring just 2 goals in 7 games last season, and failing to impress this season, albeit with a marked improvement against Wolves last week, Carroll is the topic of much debate among Liverpool fans. To some people Liverpool overpaid for Carroll, although the price tag is not his fault. People have labeled him as slow and laborious, and even say he doesn’t have what it takes to succeed at Liverpool. Other fans see the opposite side of the coin. They see a young player with bags of potential, who is just returning to full fitness and match sharpness, and who is surprisingly quick and agile given his frame. The perception of Carroll could not be more different among fans.
